Farmers Markets and CSAs

Bend Farmers Market started back up June 3rd! From quaint beginnings atop Drake Park to a thriving, bustling market in nearby Brooks Alley, the Bend Farmers market has been “growing” and feeding Central Oregon for more than 20 years! Their market runs every Wednesday, rain or shine, smoke or hail, from 2 – 6 p.m. in Downtown Bend through October 14th. The mission of the Bend Farmers Market is to create and sustain a centralized market that provides fresh local produce and farm products to the Central Oregon community. They provide a viable market for local farmers and enhance the business, nutritional, and community health of Central Oregon. They pride themselves on a diverse selection and commitment to local agriculture and are celebrating a second decade of supporting local food.

If you want to purchase local produce and support local farmers you can also purchase subscription boxes that are available for pickup and, in some cases, local delivery.

I have been loving my spring subscription to Sweet Posy. An amazing local heirloom flower farm. This summer they will be offering a large scale floral cart starting end of June through October where you can pick up some amazing bouquets. You can follow them on instagram for more information.

Some local farms offer produce subscriptions, here are a few options. I also enjoy getting local lamb from a local lamb lady in Tumalo. Call me to get her contact information if you are looking for local lamb. Another source of local meat will be from local 4H kids. Usually their animals are sold through auction at the local fair. Keep your eye out for possible online auctions. I will forward information later this summer when news on how to support our amazing 4H program comes available.
